Katie Taylor admits 'really sad' aspect of her career that Irish fans will hate to hear

Katie Taylor has detailed the 'really sad' aspect of her career which Irish fans will not like to hear.

The Bray fighter will headline a sold out Madison Square Garden Show on Saturday night as she fights Amanda Serrano.

Taylor's undefeated record and world titles will be on the line and it is a contest that is too close to call.

And the Olympic gold medal winner revealed a 'really sad' aspect of her career when speaking to Sports Illustrated.

Taylor has never fought professionally in Ireland and the Irish fighter opened up on not getting to fight at home.

"It’s really sad. To go my whole career and not fight in Ireland is very disappointing. But right now it just can’t happen.”

Taylor will defend her WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring world titles as she hopes to improve on her 20-0 record.

Bookmakers are unable to split the two as Serrano has also not lost since 2012.

Taylor has been backed to beat Serrano by her promoter Eddie Hearn.

The Matchroom CEO watched on at the Mecca of boxing on Wednesday as the undisputed lightweight champion was put through her paces by trainer Ross Enamait at the open workouts.

He said: "Katie Taylor looks so good and so fresh. I'm actually going for a Katie Taylor late stoppage in this fight and I don't think that's going to be a common pick from people but I just feel like she's got that eye of the tiger.

"People look at Katie sometimes and think 'softly spoken, oh she's such a nice girl' and she is, but she's a fierce competitor and she really wants to do a job on Amanda Serrano. It's going to be a great fight."
