Katie Price asks fans if she should host Love Island - 70% say no in savage swipe

Katie Price has been swiftly shut down by 70% of her fans after she suggested she would be the best host for the next series of Love Island.

After news broke last week that Laura Whitmore is stepping down from hosting the ITV dating show after three series', Love Island fans have been pondering who the next host could be - with former Love Island bombshell Maura Higgins in the running, as well as The Glow-Up presenter, Maya Jama.

Another possible host is Emily Atack, who has been widely rumoured to be the one to take over from close pal Laura, 37.

Last week, Laura sent shockwaves among Love Island fans when she announced that she would not be returning for another series of the hit ITV reality show.

The Irish TV presenter first joined the show in 2020, taking over from her close friend Caroline Flack. And now that Laura is out of the picture, former glamour model Katie Price, 44, reckons she could be the one to fill her shoes.

Taking to her Instagram stories on Tuesday evening, Katie quizzed her 2.6million followers on whether or not they think she would make a good host on Love Island.

However, the reality TV star was quickly shot down by her fanbase, with over 70% of them voting that she wouldn't be suitable for the show, while 29% said they would like to see her in the famous Love Island villa.

Although Katie reckons she could make her mark on the villa, the former glamour model is in stiff competition with the other rumoured stars in the running to take over Laura's highly sought after hosting duties.

Another star who fans are hoping will take over the position is 2022 series winner, Ekin-Su Culculoglu, with one fan writing on Twitter : “Ekin Su it’s your time baby,” as another chimed: “Who’s starting the petition to have Ekin-Su replace the Whitmore!”

Meanwhile, a third wrote: “EKIN-SU… IT’S YOUR TIME. Laura Whitmore has quit Love Island. Ekin-who? EKIN-SU 2023.”

Irish presenter Laura took to Instagram last week to share the news with fans, saying she had decided to step back from the role she initially only intended to do for a year.

"Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love Island," she candidly penned.

"There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.

"I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline."

Who do you think would be best as the next host for Love Island? Could Katie step up to the mark? Or do Maura and Maya, Emily and Ekin-Su have it in the bag? Let us know in the comments!
