Reality star Katie Price has been warned she is in “grave danger” of a prison term if convicted of breaking a court ban on contacting her ex-husband Kieran Hayler’s fiancée.
The model and mother-of-five, 43, is accused of harassing Michelle Penticost after she was issued with a restraining order banning direct or indirect contact.
Appearing at Crawley magistrates court on Wednesday morning, Price pleaded not guilty to the charge of harassment in breach of a restraining order and asked for the case to be heard by judge and jury at the crown court.
Concluding the hearing, District Judge Amanda Kelly told Price that - if convicted - she is “in very grave danger of going to prison”, adding: “I really hope I don’t see you here again.”
Price is accused of indirectly contacting Ms Penticost with an alleged text to Mr Hayler in January this year, including foul-mouthed abuse.
The court heard that her message to Hayler may have been triggered by an Instagram post by Penticost, which she denies was aimed at Price.
Price’s message read: “Tell your c***ing whore, piece of s**t, girlfriend not to start on me.
“She has a restraining order so shouldn’t try antagonise me as she is in breach and I’m sure she doesn’t want people knowing that she was having an affair with you behind my back. That gutter slag.”
Price was handed a five-year restraining order in June 2019, after a school run bust-up with Ms Penticost.
The former glamour model, wearing white trainers, a green tracksuit and a black gilet, was supported in court this morning by her reality TV star fiance Carl Woods, 33, who sat in the public gallery.
She stood in the dock to confirm her name, address and date of birth, before pleading not guilty to the single charge.
Asked where she wanted the trial to take place, Price said: “The Crown Court please.”
Judge Kelly told Price: “This is a very serious allegation in which it is alleged you used indirectly vile and nasty language towards Ms Penticost, someone you were prohibited from contacting directly or indirectly by a restraining order.”
Price, from Horsham, was arrested for the alleged restraining order breach in January.
She has been freed on bail on the condition she does not contact Mr Hayler or Ms Penticost, ahead of a preliminary hearing at Lewes Crown Court on May 25.
