Katie Price is having weekly therapy so she won't 'self-destruct' after son Harvey was shielded from news of her car crash

The son of TV star and model Katie Price was not told about her car crash which made headlines last year.

Katie's famly took the decision to shield Harvey, who has autism and septo-optic dysplasia, from the news while his mum went into rehab.

And now the mother-of-five has vowed to continue with weekly therapy sessions so she doesn't "self-destruct".

The comments are made in a new documentary, Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next, which airs on BBC One on Monday, March, 7 and it follows Harvey as he moves to college and leaves home for the first time.

But while filming was taking place last autumn, Katie crashed her car early in the morning. She later pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and without insurance. You can read more about the incident here.

On the judge's recommendation Katie spent a month in rehab at The Priory to help with her alcohol abuse and mental health. While there she was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.

In the new documentary - a follow up to the first which garnered much praise - it's revealed that the family and Katie did not tell Harvey about her car crash, her court case or Katie attending rehab.

Katie's mum Amy Infield said: "With Harvey and his friends around him at school they are not interested in anything that goes on outside that school."

Amy also spoke about how Katie's other children may have to deal with comments from children at school but this "won't affect" Harvey.

Katie's sister Sophie said: "Harvey is in Harvey's world, he's not aware of the situation and he wouldn't understand it so he can continue with his day to day, nothing changes for Harvey."

After Katie completed a month in rehab she told her mum that she would be going to therapy once a week and continued to visit Harvey at his college.

She said: "I've made a promise that I'm just going to see a therapist once a week, I just need to learn to cope when these situations happen because I don't want to go into self-destruct."

Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next airs on BBC One on Monday, March 7 at 9pm.
