Katie Price has been criticised by animal welfare charity PETA for buying a new puppy after facing backlash over the deaths of several animals in her care.
The former glamour model, 48, and her controversial husband Lee Andrews, 43, bought a £2,000 male Pomsky - a Siberian husky crossed with a Pomeranian - in Dubai on Sunday.
Price’s latest purchase comes just days after she revealed two of her cats were missing, with Andrews claiming one has recently died.
PETA - which has previously offered to give Price £5,000 to ban her from “collecting animals” - called out the reality star for adding another pet to her collection of 12 animals.
PETA UK's Senior Vice President Mimi Bekhechi told the Daily Mail: “Is there no low to which Katie Price will not stoop?
“While one of her cats, Doris, is reportedly still missing, instead of being worried sick and out searching for her, as any caring, responsible guardian would, she has flown to another country and acquired a new dog, as easily as one replaces a pair of socks.”
She went on: “And a Pomsky of all animals, in the Dubai heat, to add insult to injury. How many animals have been lost, discarded, or have died under her so-called ‘care’ before authorities ban her from keeping animals?
“PETA's £5,000 offer for her to stop collecting animals still stands, and we implore her to take us up on it – for the sake of Doris, this puppy, and any other animals unfortunate enough to cross her path.”
Price shared a video of her and Andrews - who was released from prison in Dubai last week after being detained on fraud allegations - signing a contract to buy the puppy.
The paperwork showed the pair paid 9,800 dirhams for it, which is approximately £2,000.
Price - who said in February that she was considering ditching some of her pets in the UK - announced that they were “proud parents” and called the dog their “little baby boy”.
The newest addition comes days after she admitted two of her several Sphynx cats - Eilleen and Doris - have gone missing.
“I live in a private area and my cats don't just disappear. Whoever has them, return them, they are my babies,” she said on social media.
Last week, Andrews revealed one of Price’s Sphynx cats had died while sharing a fan video on Cameo.
”I love dogs, I love cats, I love animals. So does Kate, so we share that empathy. She's got five Sphynxes actually. One has just passed away,” he said.
“Sorry, eight Sphynxes, five dogs. Eight Sphynxes, now seven, one passed away.”
She came under scrutiny in 2024 over her treatment of animals after five dogs, a horse, and a chameleon died while in her care, many of them in traffic accidents near her home.
Her French Bulldog Rolo suffocated after being squashed underneath a chair.
Price said the deaths were “bad luck,” with most occurring while she was away. She has since secured the garden of her new home to try to prevent further deaths.
“When people say I shouldn't have animals, it's circumstances that were out of my hands,” she told The Sun at the time.
“It's no lack of me not looking after them or anything like that. I love animals, I love nurturing.”
PETA penned an open letter to her in February 2024 after reports that Price had given away her puppy Tank due to “losing interest”.
The charity offered her £5,000 if she signs a contract to not buy another animal.
“While your intentions may be good, the ever-growing number of animals who have either died under your supervision or been given away is impossible to ignore, and people are rightly concerned,” PETA Vice President Elisa Allen wrote in the letter shared with The Sun.
“Whatever you may offer as reasons for their suffering, relinquishment, or demise, the fact is that you are consistently harming these sensitive, sentient individuals, and I hope you agree that this is a solution.
“Things have gone horribly wrong with many of the animals under her supervision.”
Price’s representative said in response at the time: “Katie has asked PETA many times to have a conversation with her directly, but instead they continue to play the narrative out in the media.'
“If they want to have a direct conversation with Kate they can get in touch. Isn't it a waste of charity money or have they got funds available to give out to celebrities, which should be going towards animals?”
