Katie Price announces she is quitting social media 'for personal reasons'

Katie Price has announced she will be coming off all social media due to “personal reasons”. The former glamour model and reality TV star told fans on Instagram that she would be taking a break from the platform.

The 44-year-old thanked her fans for “always supporting” her. She posted the news to her Twitter account as well as her Instagram story and grid with a message on a simple black background. The post read: “I will be coming off all social media for a period of time. I need to take time off for personal reasons."

She continued: “Thank you to all my loyal fans for always supporting me xxx.” The TV star has used social media to document her family life over the years. Her family has also featured in a number of documentaries, including the BBC One programme Katie Price: Harvey And Me.

The news comes days after Katie had two charges against her dismissed in court. The two charges, including one of speeding, were heard at a case management hearing at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, where they were dismissed as “no evidence was offered”.

She had been charged with one count of exceeding the 60mph speed limit on September 13 2021, and one count of failing to provide information on January 26 this year. Sussex Police said that the speeding charge was dropped due to “insufficient evidence” to progress the case.

Last September, Katie was handed a suspended sentence after crashing her BMW on the B2135 near Partridge Green in West Sussex. She was given a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, with 100 hours of unpaid work and 20 rehabilitation activity requirement sessions to be completed within the next 12 months, and was also disqualified from driving for two years.

Last month, she avoided a potential jail sentence and was given a community order and told to pay £1,500 costs at Lewes Crown Court after pleading guilty to breaching a restraining order. A court heard how Katie had sent a message to her ex Kieran Hayler.

Nicholas Hamblin, representing Price, said that his client had pleaded guilty to the breach but she had been under a “misunderstanding” that the restraining order “worked both ways”. He said there was an element of “provocation” and she had been “over-reacting as she felt she was being criticised”.

Mr Hamblin told the court that Katie had sought help for her emotional problems at the Priory Clinic. He said she suffered from a “depressive disorder and anxiety” and added: “Miss Price is learning to cope with her emotional problems and to not react in the way she has in this case.”

Earlier this year, Katie revealed that was considering having IVF with her fiance Carl Woods. Katie has five children with her former partners – 19-year-old Harvey who she shares with ex-footballer Dwight Yorke, as well as two children, Junior and Princess, with singer Peter Andre and a son, Jett, and daughter, Bunny, with Kieran Hayler.
