Katie Piper has opened up on the "nightmare" pain in her eye, 15 years after her horrific acid attack.
The Loose Women panelist, 39, had an operation on her left eye earlier this year to fix a defect but has admitted it's still "not great".
The TV personality suffered with severe pain whilst filming her new documentary series Jailhouse Mums and "really struggled" as she had no eye drops.
Her filming took place in the US as she visited a number of prisons to follow pregnant inmates as they gave birth.
Yet her eye caused problems for her as she explained: "It was a nightmare throughout the filming of the prison show.
"It's just one of those things that has never been a stable injury for me," she told MailOnline.
"I think if you're going to have such a life-changing injury you're going to know and accept those things don't just heal and go away."
She added that it "is the same for every burn survivor" she's met at the same level of injury.
The model and presenter was the victim of an acid attack in 2008.
Katie was left fighting for her life after her ex, Daniel Lynch, ordered friend Stefan Sylvestre to douse her in sulphuric acid. Both men were jailed for life.
Since the attack, the 39-year-old has gone on to write over 10 books and front a string of TV shows while sharing the true extent of the injuries she sustained.
Katie's latest project comes after she has had a deep interest of US prisons and even has previous experience.
During the five-part series, the star will discover the similarities and differences between prisons across the States as well as the UK.
Speaking about her previous experience, Katie said: "I have worked as a volunteer in female prisons for many years now, so I already have an intense & vested interest in the subject."
"As a long-standing volunteer in UK women's prisons, I'm intrigued by the varying treatment within the US system.
"I have no idea what to expect when I'm across the Atlantic, but that's the magic of a documentary. I can't wait to see how this project unfolds."
