Katie McCabe scored a stunning late winner as Arsenal came from behind to beat Manchester City and keep their WSL title hopes alive.
After overcoming Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, the comeback completed a brilliant week for the Gunners and keeps them on course for a treble.
Arsenal fell behind in the first half when Khadija Shaw headed City in front.
But Frida Maanum equalised in the second half after a scramble in the City box and McCabe won it with a rifled shot into the top corner.
Jonas Eidevall’s side move above City into second place on goal difference, three behind leaders Manchester United after another dramatic day in the WSL title race.
McCabe was on crutches and a protective boot after the Champions League quarter-final in midweek but made a remarkable recovery to be the Arsenal hero.
McCabe said: “It’s been a lot [this week]. Qualifying for the first semi-final in the Champions League was unbelievable, and then the quick turnaround to get fit. I had a fantastic medical team to help me.
“We didn’t start the game as well as we wanted to, but the team showed their resilience to come back from a goal down to then win it in the end. It’s a massive three points.”
