Katie Holmes has looked back with fondness at the period of time in which she shot to fame as Dawson Creek's Josephine "Joey" Potter.
January marks the 25th anniversary of the show's pilot episode debuting. It went on to run for six seasons, spanning 128 episodes.
As well as Katie, the teen drama helped launch the careers of James Van Der Beek (Dawson Leery) and Michelle Williams (Jen Lindley).
The 43-year old ex-wife of actor Tom Cruise began by discussing what made the television series so successful.
"I think it's simplicity. It was, you know, four kids trying to figure out how to grow up. Going through the emotions of that," she told ET Online.
"That was before phones and before the world really changed. So, there's an element to it - to a right now - that's very nostalgic. Like, wow, I can't even remember that time before we were always looking at our screen."
It's also been a quarter of a century since the star received her first acting credit - for her portrayal of Libbets Casey alongside the likes of Sigourney Weaver, Elijah Wood and Tobey Maguire in The Ice Storm.
Katie added: "I think it was, like, my first or second audition and Avy Kaufman was the casting director. I remember I was a junior in high school and it was really exciting, and Ang [Lee] was so lovely. Fred Elmes was our cinematographer, and it was really thrilling. And I was so nervous, but I just did my lines."
Katie was recently pictured sharing a kiss with her new boyfriend musician Bobby Wooten III while out in New York.
The actress was spotted locking lips with 33-year-old during their afternoon date in the city.
Dressed casually in a striped jumper and green jacket and with her hair tied up in a messy bun, mum-of-one Katie appeared content strolling around the Big Apple.
The couple, who reportedly met through mutual friends, were pictured holding hands, hugging and sharing a few kisses before heading out on a bike ride.
They were first spotted together in April this year during a romantic spring walk around Central Park before they ended their day at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
It's Katie's first relationship since she split from chef Emilio Vitolo Jr., 33, in May last year.
