Katherine Ryan says she 'loves' jilted Welsh bride's story

Those listening to the latest episode of Katherine Ryan's podcast, Telling Everybody Everything, will have been shocked to hear the comedian give a shoutout to a jilted Welsh bride. "This caught my eye this week, I don't know if you've seen this too," Katherine said before saying that the story fitted in to the "chapter of empowerment" on her podcast.

She began telling the story of 27-year-old Kayley Stead, who partied on regardless when her groom, 24, left her standing alone at the altar at Oxwich Bay Hotel in Gower, Swansea. Katherine said: "This bride from Wales, she's called Kayley, spent her life savings on a dream wedding and then, all of a sudden, her groom left her at the altar. His mum broke the news."

The comedian, who is currently expecting her third child with civil partner Bobby Kootstra, commented on how she "loves the story". She said: "Him not showing up did not stop her having a great day. Kayley went ahead with her wedding entrance, meal, speeches, dances and posed for professional photos without his ass."

Following the 'wedding', Kayley's story has made waves on social media and she has received support for what happened to her. Strangers have even offered to pay for the money that she lost on the 'wedding' and last week This Morning's Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby gave her £2,000 to go on holiday with her bridesmaids. In her podcast, Katherine offered her thoughts on the situation. She said: "I think that anyone who leaves you at the altar, anyone who cheats on you, anyone who breaks up with you, anyone who walks away... it's going to hurt your feelings at the time but like, whatever, there's no such thing as too late."

The Canadian comedian left her listeners with her own opinion: "Anyone who walks out of your life, let them go." You can get more celebrity news and other story updates straight to your inbox by subscribing to our newsletters here.
