Katherine Ryan has admitted she “wouldn't be against” letting her teenage daughter Violet appear on Love Island.
The ITV2 dating series has seen celebrity offsprings such as Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma and Boyzone singer Ronan Keating’s son Jack enter the villa in recent years.
The comedian, 40, has given her blessing for her daughter to star in the popular show in years to come, claiming it would probably be “one of the safest places for a teenager to be in a few years” in part to the safeguarding the series has.
Ryan also told how she thinks Violet, who she shares with ex-boyfriend Alex Edelman, would follow in Dani Dyer’s shoes and be the kind of Islander to “prop the other girls up”.
Speaking to The Sun, Ryan shared: “In my teens, I was doing all kinds of dangerous things — sleeping out in fields and getting into random cars. At 17 I was going out with someone who was 31.
“But I don't think Violet will make those kinds of mistakes. She probably can't help but absorb my feminist mantras, so I think she values herself more than I did at that age.
“If she wanted to get into TV, I wouldn't be against Love Island. She'd be the Dani Dyer type. It will probably be one of the safest places for a teenager to be in a few years because of the safeguarding on that show.
“I can imagine her just there to prop the other girls up and say all the right things and be a sweetheart.”
Ryan is also mum to 13-month-old Fenna Grace and Fred, two, who she welcomed with her husband Bobby Kootstra, 40.
The TV star's comments come as she is set to appear in a new series titled, Parental Guidance. The show will see her exploring "out of the box parenting" and "going around the country meeting different families who do things a little unconventionally". Her whole family will feature, including her mother.
Speaking to The Standard in November, she shared: "That was really fun.
"My family does things unconventionally so you get a lot of access to us and you get to see just really what it’s like inside our home, what my husband’s like, my teenager and the babies – it’s a lovely time capsule though for us really because it goes by so fast and we have like three solid months of filming these kids.
"I’m an attachment parent, I carry them around a lot, I co-sleep with them, all this stuff that in hindsight felt like the right thing to do, but maybe I wouldn’t recommend if you want to have a restful happy life."
The TV star has been a regular on panel shows such as 8 out of 10 Cats and Never Mind the Buzzcocks and is also known for her Netflix shows The Duchess and The Glitter Room.
