As the heir to the throne, Prince William reportedly had no shortage of female attention during his days as a student at university.
But there was one woman who stole his heart who then went on to become his wife and the now future Queen - Kate Middleton. William and Kate have known each other for more than 20 years and have now been married for 12.
But back during their university days at the prestigious University of St Andrews, a friend apparently told Kate how lucky she was to be going out with William, the Mirror reports.
Naturally, when William decided to settle down with Kate many were jealous of her luck but when a friend of the now-princess put this point to her, Kate reportedly had a very sassy response.
According to Claudia Joseph, author of Kate Middleton Princess in Waiting, Smiling, Kate confidently replied: "He's lucky to have me."
Kate spoke about her love for William in a rare admission earlier this month and how their romance led to her becoming a senior member of the Royal Family.
Kate made the rare comment when she attended a Dame Kelly Holmes Trust event in Bath and challenged the double Olympic champion to a game of bean-bag noughts and crosses and lost.
When asked if she wanted to be a "royal" by a pupil, the Princess candidly replied it was something she had not seen coming but she "fell in love" with Prince William.
She also confessed that there is one particular part of royal life she's "still working out" and admitted it was not her "natural thing".
When Kate sat down for a private chat with a group of schoolgirls supported by the charity at St Katherine's School in Bristol, she took any questions the pupils had about herself after listening to their experiences of home and school life.
Dame Kelly later revealed that when the children quizzed Kate about her life as a royal, the Princess said it was something "she had to learn".
Speaking for herself, Dame Kelly said: "A struggle to kind of know that you can be accepted and fit in, and still learning every day."
The double Olympic champion said public speaking wasn't a "natural thing" to many people as she added that Kate said "she's still working that out".
