Kate Moss's London: The supermodel's favourite restaurants in town

What is left to say about Kate Moss? She remains, despite her now residing in Cotswolds bucolic bliss, a Londoner in all but postcode. A defining cultural figure synonymous not just with celebrity, style, fashion and glamour, but with London. She was Cool Britannia, after all.

In honour of one of London’s most talk-about figures of the last 30 years and to celebrate her 50th birthday, here we've rounded-up Moss's most-frequented London restaurants (or at least, the restaurants she was most often papped outside). She may have popularised the mantra “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels”, but Moss clearly has a taste for dining out.

Perhaps not surprisingly, her choices are an elegant set of classics: restaurants that cosset guests, full of linen tablecloths and soft leather and excellent service. There are plenty of private members clubs Moss has been known to frequent too — Annabel’s, Mark’s and LouLou’s to name a few — but for those looking to sample a bit of Kate Moss glamour without having to endure a waiting list, here's where to go.

Scott’s

(Press Handout)

Upmarket and longstanding fish palace Scott’s has long been a firm favourite among the fashion set and Moss has held a number of birthday parties here, most recently spotted here two years ago for her 48th bash, as well as various lunches with Kelly Osbourne, and her on-off boyfriend Nikolai von Bismark.

34 Mayfair

To celebrate 25 years in fashion, modern grill hangout 34 Mayfair modelled their champagne coupe on Kate Moss’s breast. Which one? The left. Importantly, if a restaurant is using your bust for their glassware, it’s quite right to pay them a few visits, as Moss has done numerous times over the years.

Jin Kichi

Moss described Jin Kichi in a 2023 Financial Times feature as “a little slice of Tokyo in north London”, and with a relatively affordably menu — for a sushi spot in Hampstead, at least — it’s perhaps little wonder this authentic restaurant was Moss’s most recent top pick.

Farmacy

Farmacy on Westbourne Grove (Daniel Lynch)

Last year in west London, Moss was spotted lunching at Farmacy in Notting Hill, doubtless tucking into one of the plant-led seasonal dishes the lunch-friendly spot is known for.

Julie’s

It’s no secret that Julie’s has been a celebrity hangout over the years, and its west London location made it a local favourite for Moss, who was often spotted dining there. Whilst the restaurant is currently closed, new ownership and a spring 2024 re-opening could see Julie’s return to some former glory. Will Moss be back? Only time will tell.

Chiltern Firehouse

(Matt Writtle)

Another popular hangout for the fashion set, Marylebone's Chiltern Firehouse has hosted Moss on a number of occasions, most often at the height of the restaurant's early hype in 2016. Today, it doesn't have quite the same cache as it did, but stars are still spotted there, and an atmosphere of fun remains. Go for American cooking, from both the North and the South.

J Sheekey

Rounding off Moss’s appreciation for the Caprice restaurant group — who also own Scott's and 34 Mayfair — is longstanding fish grill J Sheekey. Moss was spotted there back in 2009 whilst still living in London, so perhaps it’s time to revisit? The Dover sole is well worth it.

China Tang

(Press handout)

50 is a big one, but Moss chose to mark her 45th at The Dorchester's China Tang. The name gives the game away: go for the luxurious lobster noodles, stay for the chocolate dim sum. Be warned, this one is very much priced to postcode.

53 Park Lane, W1K 1QA, chinatanglondon.co.uk

Cecconi’s

Clearly holding an affinity for the glamour of Mayfair (and why not?) Kate Moss was spotted at this upscale Italian only last year, having lunched with her father and brother. The pappardelle with wild mushrooms is a winner.
