Kate Middleton’s name became a royal branding battle and Prince William was reportedly ‘fuming’

Prince William was reportedly left “fuming” after King Charles III and Queen Camilla suggested that Catherine, Princess of Wales, change the spelling of her first name when she joined the royal family, according to a new biography by author Christopher Andersen.

The reported request centred on the royal family’s monograms and crests. Charles and Camilla both have royal monograms featuring interlocking Cs beneath a crown, and Andersen wrote in his book, Kate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen, that the couple worried adding another C to the royal insignia would be excessive.
