Kate Middleton treats Prince William "like a fourth child" due to his temper tantrums, a source who worked with them in Kensington Palace has claimed.
Author Tom Quinn shared his conversations with the source who revealed what goes on behind the scenes in the Prince and Princess of Wales' marriage, the Mirror reports.
The source allegedly told Quinn: "Kate treats him [William] like the fourth child because he's prone to tantrums". However, the insider added that Kate has an effective strategy put in place to ensure their arguments don't get out of hand.
The author explained: "They do have rows. It's not a perfect marriage. They have terrific rows.
"But, where some couples have a row and throw heavy vases at each other, William and Kate throw cushions at each other. It's always kept under control."
Quinn, who wrote 'Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family', claimed that a lot of Wiliam and Kate's success as a married couple is down to the late Queen's legacy of peacekeeping and her age-old motto which she taught the Royal Family: "Never complain, never explain."
Queen Elizabeth understood how important it was to maintain a dignified silence during difficult times, Queen told the Express.
He continued: "Because William adopts the manners and ways of behaving of his grandmother and Kate is very good at not complaining, both of them have stuck to the thing that made Queen Elizabeth II such a remarkable monarch".
The author added: "They very rarely complain and when they do it's always in measured terms."
William and Kate are very popular senior royals within the British public although a recent Ipsos survey found that Kate has recently become more popular than her husband.
The Princess of Wales was the preferred royal with 38 percent of people liking her followed by the heir to the throne who sat at 34 per cent.
In the survey, 62 per cent of respondents also said they were satisfied with William's current role as the Prince of Wales.
The survey of around 4000 people also indicated that 49 percent of the British public believe Charles is doing a good job as the country's new King.
Among the least popular royals were Prince Andrew at 4 percent and his two daughters Princess Beatrice and Eugenie who were both at seven percent.
