Kate Middleton could pay a "high price" when the revelations in Prince Harry's book are published next week, a royal expert claims.
The forthcoming memoir titled 'Spare' is set to share "revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom" when it hits shelves on Tuesday, January 10.
The "raw, unflinching honesty" promised in the book could be damaging for Prince William and Duchess Catherine, although King Charles is said to come off "better than expected". It comes after Harry described a "physical attack" by William in a report published by the Guardian.
According to royal commentator Daniela Elser, the Duke of Sussex's disclosures could prove to be a "nightmare" for the Princess of Wales, The Mirror reported.
A reluctance in royal circles to respond to Harry's book could make the coming weeks particularly tough, Daniela said, while a royal insider believes Spare could end any hopes of William and Harry repairing their relationship.
A royal insider told The Sunday Times: "Generally, I think the book [will be] worse for them than the Royal Family is expecting.
“Everything is laid bare. Charles comes out of it better than I had expected, but it’s tough on William, in particular, and even Kate gets a bit of a broadside.
"There are these minute details, and a description of the fight between the brothers. I personally can’t see how Harry and William will be able to reconcile after this."
The Daily Star reported that Elser, writing for news.com.au, explained the release of the book would be a "particularly hard experience" for Kate.
She said: "For Kate, right now, watching her formerly close brother-in-law on the cusp of yet another offensive, and with not only her husband reportedly in his sights but her too, must be a particularly hard experience, not least because there is nothing they can do.
"Unlike in the wake of Harry and Meghan's Oprah interview, when we got the now-iconic 'recollections may vary' statement, so far, Buckingham and Kensington Palaces have assiduously refused to comment on the Sussexes' broadsides.
"The way things look today, there may well be more discomfort and sadness for William and Kate to come."
