Kate Middleton's uncle Gary Goldsmith says she is 'ready for next chapter' as Windsor move looms

The annual return to school is always a daunting yet exciting occasion, but when you're starting at a new one, it can be all the more nerve-racking. This autumn, the Cambridges are set to have a fresh start in the countryside as they prepare to leave London for Berkshire, meaning Prince George and Princess Charlotte will not be returning to their Battersea school.

Prince Louis will be joining his older brother and sister at Lambrook School in Bracknell, much closer to their new home within the grounds of Windsor Castle - Adelaide Cottage. The Cambridges currently reside at Apartment 1A, Kensington Palace, in Hyde Park, which allows them little privacy.

The big move, due to commence shortly, has been influenced by a number of factors, with one of the main selling points being how close the Cambridges will be to the Queen, who now mainly resides at Windsor Castle. Although any move is stressful, Kate's uncle, Gary Goldsmith, has told The Sun that his niece and her family are 'ready for the next chapter in their lives'.

Speaking to the publication, Gary said: "William and Kate are going to have their hands full this summer as they move home to be nearer the Queen and settle the kids into a new school. But I think they are ready for the next chapter in their lives.

"Kate has been brilliant in so many ways – as a wife, a mum, a counsel, a partner, an ambassador, a figurehead and a future queen. She never lets anyone down. She shines in every situation, on every stage, and behaves with class.

"She is already the one we all watch first as a role model. We are all, as a nation, super-proud of her. The royal family is in safe, beautiful and heaven-sent hands. She has got this in both the good times and the bad times.

Not only will George, Charlotte, and Louis be closer to their 'Gan-Gan', but the three Cambridge children will also be a lot nearer to their maternal grandparents - Carole and Michael Middleton - once they move to Windsor. Kate's parents live about 45 minutes away in the Berkshire village of Bucklebury.

Adelaide Cottage was built in 1931 and is Grade II listed. With four bedrooms, the Windsor home is deemed to be 'modest' by royal standards, and the family will not be hiring any live-in staff.

The cottage underwent major renovations in 2015 and has seven gated entrances to Windsor Castle. It was built as a retreat for William IV's wife Queen Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen and was used by Queen Victoria. It was also home to Group Captain Peter Townsend.
