The British army has recently made adjustments to their upcoming annual review event at Horse Guards Parade in London, as Princess Kate Middleton, who is currently recovering from abdominal surgery, will not be leading the ceremony as previously indicated. The Princess, aged 42, had been listed on the official army website to conduct the review on June 8, raising expectations of her return to public duties following her surgery on January 16.
However, Kensington Palace clarified that they were not consulted about her participation, leading to the removal of Kate's name from the event website, which is currently selling tickets for the occasion. Initially, Kate was set to lead the review in her role as the honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards, a position she holds.
The annual review is a significant event involving 1,400 soldiers and serves as a precursor to the Trooping the Colour parade, a tribute to King Charles, which follows the next weekend. The parade, like the review, takes place at Horse Guards Parade and includes a carriage procession along the Mall from Buckingham Palace.
Meanwhile, Prince William, Kate's husband, typically participates in the event on horseback alongside other royal family members, such as Princess Anne. However, it remains uncertain whether Prince Charles, who is undergoing cancer treatment, will be able to actively engage in the proceedings.
As Kate continues her recovery at Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate, her office has announced that she will not resume public duties until after Easter, which falls on March 31. Given that her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are on school vacation during that period, Kate and William are expected to spend time with them, delaying her return to public engagements possibly until mid-April.
Despite her recovery, Kate was recently seen being driven by her mother, Carole Middleton, after dropping off her children at school. Kensington Palace confirmed the success of Kate's surgery on January 17 and stated that she is expected to remain in the hospital for ten to fourteen days before continuing her recovery at home.
The Palace emphasized that updates on Kate's progress will only be provided when significant new information is available, respecting her desire for privacy regarding her medical details. A recent source from the Palace mentioned that Kate is 'continuing to do well' during her recovery period.
