The Duchess of Cambridge had to make a swift exit from the Wimbledon tennis tournament last year. As Wimbledon returns this week (June 27), Kate Middleton's visit to the royal box was cut short in 2021.
As the top tennis players from around the world descend on southwest London in an effort to win the tournament, members of the Royal Family also make an appearance. The Duchess is a big fan of the competition but last year her trip was cut short as she got an unexpected alert.
Cambridgeshire Live reports that as Kate was sat in the royal box watching Dan Evans, she found out that she had been in contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19. During that time, the rules meant people with a close contact had to self isolate.
