A royal fashion expert has explained the items of clothing that Kate Middleton may have to bid farewell to as she steps into her new role as the Princess of Wales.
Kate’s next step within the royal family will be to follow in the steps of Queen Consort Camilla when her husband, the Prince of Wales, becomes the Kind of England.
While the fashion rules as Princess are strict within the royal family, when her time comes as Queen Consort, she will have to ditch one item in particular.

Miranda Holder explained that "it is likely that we will see her wardrobe become more formal and appropriate for her position.
"Her immaculate outfits will no doubt remain stylish enough to enthral her loyal fashion-loving fan.” The stylist then said she believes that Kate’s image will evolve further, "to reflect this new phase in her royal life.”
Miranda said that since her arrival in the royal family, "we have witnessed Kate’s fresh-faced girl next door appeal morph into a sophisticated and elegant style sensation treading the tricky line between royalty and celebrity in her favourite nude toned court shoes with panache.”
However, it is shoes like this that may have to be left behind in favour of a more formal style, along with some of her accessories and Miranda said: "The more flirtatious fancier accessories such as hatbands will be fully phased out for more imposing hats.”
Similarly, the more ‘floaty’ fabrics "and prints such as polka dots" will eventually give away to "more immaculately cut tailoring in Kate’s signature fit and flare style which complements her graceful figure perfectly.”
It is understood that polka dot dresses are one of Kate's favourite prints and she's been seen wearing them for important events - at Wimbledon and to the Royal Ascot in June.
Colour psychologist and director of design at Lick Colour, Tash Bradley, said the Princess of Wales favours a polka dot dress because it is the perfect balance of "elegance and sophistication with the fun and approachable polka dots".
It's also thought that clutch bags will continue to be the Princess of Wales' favourite accessory as they add glamour to every occasion, and also have a royal language all of their own.
Meanwhile, the mum-of-three has handed her elegant style down to her daughter, Princess Charlotte.
The young princess was in attendance at the state funeral of the former monarch Queen Elizabeth II, and was seen paying tribute to her late 'Gan Gan' by donning a horseshoe brooch.
Reports have claimed the pair bonded over their love of horses, and the youngster is even learning to ride horseback.
