Kate Middleton 'changed' Meghan Markle's mind about going to Balmoral for Queen

Kate Middleton 'changed' Meghan Markle 's mind about making her way to Balmoral the day the Queen died, writes The Mirror.

Close members of the Royal Family rushed to Her Majesty's estate in Scotland on Thursday afternoon (September 8) to be by her bedside. Buckingham Palace then announced that the 96-year-old monarch passed away 'peacefully' with Princess Anne and Prince Charles there with her.

But behind the scenes, there appeared to be a sense of unease within the family over who would be making their way to Scotland. Prince William, Edward, Andrew and Sophie Wessex arrived shortly after the Queen's death after touching down at Aberdeen Airport.

Prince Harry travelled up separately in a commercially rented jet, separately from his brother, suggesting that there are still tensions between the pair. The Duke of Sussex travelled up on his own, despite initial reports suggesting that his wife Meghan Markle was joining them. Kate Middleton stayed at home so she could pick up Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Louis from their first full day at the Lambrook School in Berkshire.

Meghan Markle apparently 'changed her mind' about heading to Balmoral to see The Queen following her death thanks to Kate Middleton, according to the Daily Mail.

Omid Scobie, the author of the biography Finding Freedom - which is about Harry and Meghan - tweeted that her plans had changed. He said Meghan would be remaining in London 'like the Duchess of Cambridge'.

Meghan's plan to head to Scotland with the Duke of Sussex 'raised eyebrows' among certain royals, according to reports. One palace insider said that Harry was told by his father that Meghan was 'not welcome' at Balmoral to see the dying Queen.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who now live in Montecito, California, were referenced by his dad Charles, now the King, in his first televised address to the nation on Friday evening (September 10).

Charles sent the pair 'love' as they continue to build their life in the USA. In the same speech, he bestowed the titles of 'Prince and Princess of Wales' upon William and Kate, while paying tribute to his 'darling mama' for a lifetime of dedicated service during her incredible 70-year reign.
