Kate Middleton and Prince William spark frenzy at Lambrook School as waiting lists skyrocket

The Cambridges will be seeing out their summer full of fun and adventure with their highly anticipated move to Windsor. The relocation has now been officially announced following months of speculation, and will see the family of five ditch Kensington Palace for Adelaide Cottage on the Queen's Windsor estate.

Last month, Prince George and Princess Charlotte said goodbye to their friends at Thomas's Prepatory School in Battersea, as they are set to move to Lambrook School in Berkshire, much closer to their new home. Their younger brother, four-year-old Prince Louis, will be joining them next month as he begins his school journey.

In a statement, Kensington Palace said: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have today announced that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will attend Lambrook School in Berkshire from September 2022. Their Royal Highnesses are hugely grateful to Thomas’s Battersea where George and Charlotte have had a happy start to their education since 2017 and 2019 respectively and are pleased to have found a school for all three of their children which shares a similar ethos and values to Thomas’s."

According to The Express, one parent described Lambrook School as having 'acres of space and no pushiness' and a 'tight, all-inclusive community'. But some parents are anxious, as they decided to send their brood to Lambrook before it was announced that the three Cambridge children would be attending the £7,000-per term institution.

Since rumours began circulating that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were thinking of sending their children to the Berkshire school, waiting lists are said to have skyrocketed. One parent told The Telegraph: “We’ll see what happens – if it gets too crazy we won’t send our second child there. We like it the way it is."

It is thought that Kate and William ultimately decided that Lambrook would be the best place to send the third, fourth, and fifth in line to the throne because it is co-educational, meaning it admits both boys and girls. A lot of prepatory schools are single-sex.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will have to fork out different fees for their children, as payments are based on age. The annual cost of Prince George's education will fall just shy of £21,000, whilst Kate and William will be paying £19,000 for Princess Charlotte's education and £13,000 for Prince Louis'.

In addition to spending Monday to Friday partaking in lessons at Lambrook, the three children will also have lessons on Saturday mornings. On Saturday afternoons, they will take part in sports matches.
