Many may be unaware that royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton have quite the unusual set-up at their exclusive Kensington Palace apartment.
While neither give interviews about their home life - as royal protocol dictates - it is widely known where their bedrooms are located. Rather than sharing a room upstairs like a typical apartment, the pair share an unusual room on the ground floor while the upstairs is used by staff.
Because of this, the Cambridge's live predominantly on the ground floor of the royal palace in London. Furthermore, 1A Kensington Palace is anything but the average apartment - it's a four-storey mansion which features its own lift, gym and nine rooms for the staff alone, OK reports.

It is reported that the property is 'enormous'. British royal author Christopher Warmick described the sheer majesty of the apartment, saying: "All of these royal residences at Kensington Palace are called apartments, which of course makes people immediately think they are flats like the American term for an apartment.
“They are not. If you think of Kensington Place in a way, it is built around three courtyards. If you kind of think of them as being these wonderful red brick terrace houses. Because they are all joined, but separate houses.”
Meanwhile, royal author Ingrid Seward said: “It's enormous... and it's like a piece of countryside in London.” The royal couple also has a country home in Norfolk - Anmer Hall - where the family stayed in quarantine during the UK lockdown.
During that period, Kate offered fans a sneak peek behind the closed doors of the Kensington Palace property. Photos published in Nursing Times show the Duchess of Cambridge conducting Zoom interviews in the living space of the home.
She also used the space to record a video for the Nursing Now charity which she has been a patron of since 2018. Two more photos show the lively room featuring a colourful yet traditional patterned rug.
