Kate Hudson has remembered her dear friend Matthew Perry following his death at age 54, admitting to "know him was to adore him".
The 44-year-old is the latest Hollywood celebrity to pay tribute to the late Friends star, who died on Saturday at his Los Angeles home.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, she shared a photo of her with Perry at the 2004 MTV Movie Awards and recalled their friendship throughout the years was filled with laughter, conversations about love and tennis.
She shared in the touching caption: “As you can see, to know him was to adore him.
“We played tennis and played more tennis, talked endlessly about trials and tribulations of love and then would talk some more as we would laugh our asses off and then laughed some more.
“I share the same sadness with all our film and TV community who shared time with Matthew. I send my love and condolences to his family and his work families. We love you Matthew.”
Hudson's tribute comes as Perry's Friends co-stars said they are "utterly devastated" by his death, adding: "We were more than just cast mates. We are a family."
Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer released a joint statement on Monday evening.
They said: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.
"There is so much to say, but right now we're going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.
"In time we will say more, as and when we are able.
"For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty's family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."
The statement came as fresh details of Perry's death emerged.
First responders revealed he was found underwater in his jacuzzi by his assistant who lifted his head up to try to get him some air.
However he was found to have already died by the time the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the Friends star’s Pacific Palisades home on Saturday.
Captain Erik Scott, with the LAFD said: "Los Angeles City Firefighters responded [and] found an adult male unconscious in a stand-alone hot tub.
"A bystander had brought the man’s head above the water and gotten him to the edge, then firefighters removed him from the water upon their arrival.
"A rapid medical assessment, sadly, revealed the man was deceased prior to first responder arrival.
"The circumstances are under investigation by LAPD and the LA County Medical Examiner. We mourn with families and friends who lose a loved one unexpectedly."
A post-mortem examination was inconclusive and officials are awaiting the results of toxicology tests.
