Kate Garraway thanks dedicated fans who helped to find husband Derek's medication left in a cab

TV host Kate Garraway has thanked fans who helped track down her husband Derek Draper's medication after she accidentally left it in a black cab.

The ITV Good Morning Britain presenter's husband is still recovering from Covid after contracting the virus and being admitted to intensive care in March 2020. After she left the medicine in the cab, Kate went on Twitter to ask for help.

The 55-year-old wrote: "@BC_Lostproperty help!! Have just brought Derek home in a mobility black cab from hospital for a weekend visit. I have left a case with all his meds and kit in the front. The driver recognised me but may not know it’s there - please look and get in touch - need urgently!!"

A number of days after the incident, Kate shared an update on Derek's health and revealed that the medicine was returned to the couple after a follower who knew the cab driver got in touch. At the time, the helpful fan wrote: “I know the driver Kate as he mentioned he'd taken you and your husband to me this evening. I’m trying to get in touch right now.”

Then on Monday morning, Kate thanked her dedicated fans for their hard work in retrieving Derek's medicine, reports The Mirror. The grateful star said: "It’s been returned! Thanks to all who reached out - the message got to driver lovely Robert who has returned it - phew and thanks to all."

Derek spent more than a year in hospital after being struck by Covid in March 2020. He returned home over a year later and now receives 24-hour care. Kate has previously admitted that if Derek was left unaided for three days in a row, he could die. She is currently caring for Derek herself and has insisted that she will never give up on the hopes that he will return to full health.
