Kate Garraway has shared a cheerful update of her family's festive celebrations, leaving fans relieved that things are finally looking up for the star.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 55, has been open about the tough time her family has been through amid her husband Derek Draper's health battle after he suffered several complications from contracting Covid in 2020. Kate previously voiced fears that Derek may not be home for Christmas after several long stints in hospital, but thankfully he was discharged earlier this month.
And with preparations underway for the festive season, Kate gave fans a sweet glimpse into her family life as she revealed the trials and tribulations involved in getting her giant Christmas tree home. Sharing photos of her parents and her two children Darcey and Billy, the presenter wrote: "So they say it takes a village to raise a child... but how many does it take to 'raise' a Christmas tree?

"Well in my case (altogether now sing along)... 'Five exasperated shop workers, four helpful neighbours, three frazzled parents, two over-excited kids and NOT a partridge in a pear tree, but a Peugeot 308 SW with a surprisingly large boot - even my own mother didn’t believe I could get a six-foot tree in but I knew my Percy Peugeot wouldn’t let me down!" she joked.
Showing off the finished result of the tree adorned with lights, tinsel and decorations with her two children standing proudly in front of it, Kate added: "So worth it to see the kids so happy. At last ready Christmas - well, ish."
Fans were quick to send messages expressing their relief that the family were enjoying Christmas together after a challenging couple of years, with one person commenting on the heartwarming post: "I personally don’t know you Kate, but what an awesome, strong, beautiful woman - an inspiration to others. Wishing you and your beautiful family a safe and happy Christmas."
Another Instagram follower added: "You are just one awesome inspirational lady Kate - much love to you all!"
"Well done Kate," a third person praised. "Enjoy your Christmas and may Derek’s health improve in the New Year."
Earlier this year, Kate took some time away from her presenting duties after Derek was hospitalised when his health took a frightening "turn for the worse". Kate shared on Instagram in July that her husband had been left "fighting for his life" in intensive care once again, but thanked the NHS staff as they thankfully managed to get him back on the road to recovery.
