Kate Garraway shares honest fear as ITV Love Your Garden viewer concerned over her wedding ring

Kate Garraway appeared compelled to reply to a viewer of her latest programme after they expressed concern over the rings she was wearing. The Good Morning Britain presenter appeared on ITV on Tuesday night in Alan Titchmarsh's show Love Your Garden as she documented her own garden transformation.

Kate, 54, battled the elements as she creating her very own "health and well-being garden" in a bid to help her family as her husband Derek Draper continues to battle the serious, life-changing effects contracting coronavirus had on his body. It has been well documented that Derek, also 54, became seriously ill after being struck down with the virus in March 2020.

After being admitted to the hospital, he was placed into an induced coma and Kate has previously said Covid 'wreaked havoc' on his body. It wasn't until just over a year later that the former Labour lobbyist and psychotherapist was able to return to his north London home alongside Kate and their two children - Darcey, 16, and 12-year-old Billy.

"I think the last year and a half has been very tough for everyone and our challenges have been that my husband Derek got very sick in March 2020 for a long period he was in hospital in a coma," Kate said before the makeover. "We were here, in the garden, on our own not knowing whether he'd live or die, trying to manage that fear.

"It made me view the garden in a whole different way. He's now home but still very unwell so we want to make the garden into something more than just a space to be. I really want to grow some plants that will actually improve our health and wellbeing."

Talking about the programme on Instagram before it aired Kate, alongside a picture of herself, Derek, and Billy outside, said: "They even helped me carry Derek outside so he could see the fruits of our labour too - a very emotional moment."

Kate was seen on the show completing her medicinal, tea and aromatherapy beds before giving Derek his own tour of the sprawling green space. But as Kate got stuck into the work herself, a viewer expressed their worry on Twitter as the mum-of-two continued to wear her jewellery.

They wrote: "I’m worried she might lose or damage those beautiful rings. Am I the only person who takes off my engagement ring when cooking or gardening? #loveyourgarden."

But the mum-of-two, who has been married to Derek for 17 years after being introduced by a mutual friend, then political editor of GMTV Gloria De Piero, shared her fears about what would happen if she took off the band.

"I know what you mean – but have never taken it off & now fear it’ll be a jinx if I do," she honestly replied. "Silly really! Glad you are enjoying the programme xxx," Kate added.

Many people took to the comments to show Kate she wasn't on her own in that thought and offered her comfort.
