Kate Garraway has said her husband’s health is improving after a “frightening turn for the worse”.
Derek Draper, 54, requires daily care after becoming seriously ill with coronavirus in March 2020.
Speaking to fans on social media, Garraway, 55, said she would be returning to GMB on Monday after three weeks off while helping to care for Derek after he spent a spell in intensive care “fighting for his life - again”.
She said: “Thank you so so much for all your messages of support - they really do mean the world to me & the whole family.
“I have taken some time off @gmb @smoothradio & @garrawaysgoodatuff in the last 3 weeks as Derek’s health took an unexpected & frightening turn for the worse that landed him back in intensive care & fighting for his life - again .
“Thanks to the amazing nhs teams & his own extraordinary life force & spirit Derek -please god - is back on the right side of it now and I’m so looking forward to seeing you all back on @gmb from 6 a.m tomorrow”.
She added: “See you in the morning!”
Derek, a former political advisor, is among the worst affected Covid patients in the UK after spending 13 months in hospital.
The dad-of-two has since returned home but has been unable to fully communicate and has had major health struggles since.
The couple married in 2005 and have two children, Darcey and Billy.
