Kate Garraway has given an update on her husband Derek Draper's health as she recalled an "amazing" moment.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 56, appeared on fellow ITV show Loose Women to share the news.
It comes after her author husband Derek, 55, was left fighting for his life after catching Covid at the start of the pandemic back in March 2020.
He was in a medically induced coma and stayed at the hospital for 13 months.
The former lobbyist requires 24/7 care at home and has been learning to speak again.
Appearing on the daytime show, Kate was asked by Linda Robson whether Derek could speak.
"It's very much a whisper. I don't think we're necessarily going to have a conversation, but you get fantastic moments. Billy had a new basketball and was bouncing it, and he said 'is that new ball?' He said: 'It's nice'...
"Seeing him able to was amazing. Billy was in tears; they were hugging. It's things like that that really lift you up, and the next day he was really still."
Kate has made two documentaries, Finding Derek and Caring For Derek, to show the affects the disease had on her husband.
"Last time I was on here, just got back from jungle, we were planning on renewing our vows....," she told the panel.
"In a matter of weeks, we were in that unfolding drama. It feels like forever ago but it could've been just yesterday. in some levels everyone's lives have changed dramatically, but for me I'm still living the scenes you see in the documentary."
Last month Kate and Derek appeared in good form as they were pictured heading out to a pub lunch.
Derek was pictured being pushed in a wheelchair as he relaxed with his family.
In April, Kate revealed Derek returned from the hospital in a sweet post.
She shared a series of snaps of her "very special weekend" which showed herself and her husband alongside their children and other family members.
As she posted the photos to her Instagram page, Kate wrote: " Funny how it was just grandad & I for the digging & planting & then suddenly everyone appears when up!!
"Crowning a very special weekend with the Drapers ( Aunty Sue & grandma you are here in spirit) by planting a magnolia tree for #earthday. Happy Sunday everyone xxx Xxx".
