Kate Abdo on-air gaffe makes Thierry Henry walk off set: “I’m going to get fired!”

Kate Abdo made a shocking error live on-air as she introduced CBS Sports' Champions League coverage by citing it "Fox Sports".

The two broadcasters are rivals with the presenter's gaffe provoking a comical reaction from pundits Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards and Thierry Henry - with the latter walking out of shot with his head down. Carragher, who was on his knees in hysterics, joked: "Are there any jobs going on Fox?"

Abdo, after walking away and turning her back before returning with a very regretful look on her face, said: "I'm so sorry, the teleprompter had just kind of risen up a bit and I apologise." She has been a regular presenter for CBS but then said: "I'm about to get fired. Pete I am so sorry."

Abdo has previously worked for Fox Sports and Sky Sports during her impressive career. She also hosted the FIFA Ballon d’Or ceremony in 2014 and 2015 with her ability to speak an array of different languages setting her apart.

Abdo and the three pundits are in Milan for the second-leg of the Champions League semi-final between Inter Milan and AC Milan. It is the first time the two sides have met at this stage of the competition for almost two decades with Inter winning the first-leg 2-0.

Despite playing in the San Siro the first-leg counted as their away match and they will be looking to complete the job against their neighbours with either Real Madrid or Manchester City awaiting them in the final, which takes place in Istanbul, as they eye a repeat of their Champions League success in 2010.

Last week Abdo, whilst presenting Champions League coverage on CBS, struggled to finish her intro as she began coughing uncontrollably. Henry was in stitches which left Carragher to tend to Abdo with a bottle of water before she said: "Thank you so much, I'm so sorry everybody it was a great intro and I just totally killed it."

The presenter is known for her big personality, previously mocking Richards during Champions League coverage. She once introduced his colleagues Henry and Carragher, who won the European Cup in 2009 and 2005 respectively, before then citing Richards as the man who made five Champions League appearances.

Abdo has, on several occasions, mocked Richards' lack of success on the European stage, albeit in a jokey manner.
