Kat Dennings has recalled pushing back on an uncomfortable 2 Broke Girls scene in which she was meant to wear only a bra.
The actor looked back on the scene in a new TikTok video, explaining that she approached showrunner Michael Patrick King and asked if they could wear clothes in the scene instead.
“At the beginning of 2 Broke Girls, this must have been season 1 or 2, we had a table read,” Dennings recalled in a TikTok shared with her 1.5 million followers.
She explained: “In one of those episodes, there was a scene where Max (Dennings) and Caroline (Beth Behrs) are just wearing bras. They were just wearing bras and they were running around in the apartment set. The scene was just us wearing bras.”
Dennings, who starred in the sitcom during its run from 2011 to 2017, said she decided to push back despite not having much “pull” to make decisions on set at that time.
“After the table read, I went over to showrunner Michael Patrick King and said, ‘I’m gonna need you to take out the bra scene, or have us wearing clothes during the scene,’” Dennings claimed.
The actor claimed King initially pushed back, telling her, “‘No, I mean, this is the scene.’ And I said, ‘You don’t pay me enough for a bra scene.’ And sure enough the bra scene was gone. Never underestimate yourself, is the moral of the story.”
She concluded: “They weren’t paying me enough... although I don’t think anyone could.”

2 Broke Girls was co-created by King and comedian Whitney Cummings. It followed two waitresses from different backgrounds working in a diner.
Dennings has previously spoken about the challenges she has faced in her career, particularly the criticism she faced for her appearance as a child actor.
Last year, she reflected on the “extremely negative feedback” she received from casting directors via her agent when she was a child actor.
Speaking to People, the Shifting Gears actor said she remembered being told she wasn’t pretty enough and “fat” when she was 12.
“It was pretty crazy thinking about it. I’m like: "How can anyone say that about a little kid? This is insane.”
She explained: “I was 12. I’d go into an audition and I’d do it, and my manager would call me and I’d be like: “How’d it go?" And they’d be like: ‘Well, they thought you weren’t pretty enough and you’re fat.’”
At 14, she landed a role in an episode of Sex and The City called “Hot Child in the City” in 2000, in which she played a wealthy kid who hires Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) to plan her bat mitzvah party.
She had previously told The View about how the role changed her career, saying that although she didn’t know what it was about, she knew how huge the show was.
“I auditioned for it. I was like, ‘What a weird show. What a weird title. And then on the way home, on the train, we saw a building — like, a Sex and The City billboard across the whole building,” she said on the talk show.
