ALT-country queen Kasey Chambers is providing Newcastle fans with an intimate opportunity to hear the stories behind her extensive songbook.
Newcastle Writers Festival is hosting Chambers for a special one-off event on November 2 at the University of Newcastle's Conservatorium of Music.
Chambers will perform songs and speak with good friend and podcaster Danni Carr about her forthcoming memoir Just Don't Be a D**khead and Other Profound Things I've Learnt!, which covers her more than 30-year career in the music industry.
During that time the Not Pretty Enough hit-maker has won 14 ARIAs and 24 Golden Guitars to become arguably one of the biggest cross-over stars in Australian country music. In 2018 Chambers, 48, became the youngest female artist inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
Just Don't Be a D**khead and Other Profound Things I've Learnt! is published on October 1 and will be followed by Chambers' 13th studio album, Backbone, on October 4.
Carr commands a formidable audience in her own right. Her How I Quit Alcohol podcast has amassed more than two million downloads.
Last Friday Carr and her husband, blues and roots musician Ash Grunwald, released their own memoir How I Quit Alcohol A Rock N Roll Guide To Sobriety & Living Well.
