Powerful Lord Kartikeya Temple in Uttarakhand
The highest Lord Kartikeya Temple that is situated in Uttarakhand is known as Kartik Swami Temple. It is a shrine at the hilltop that carries great spiritual significance to the Lord’s followers all over the world. The temple lies in Kanakchauri village in Rudraprayag, atop of Kronch Parvat.
Origin Story of Kartik Swami Temple
Once upon a time, in order to test the resilience and dedication of his sons, Maha Dev asked them to circle around the universe 7 times. Being the dutiful and disciplined one, Lord Kartikeya immediately took off his long and arduous journey. But Bhagwan Ganesha’s thoughts moved in a different direction. He walked around his parents 7 times, saying that they represent his universe. Feeling happy about Lord Vignaharta’s wisdom, Lord Shiva gifted him the first place in worship.
However, when Lord Kartikeya came back after his great journey, he felt overlooked after realising what had happened. At that moment itself, the Bhagwan Kartikeya gave up all kinds of worldly pleasures ad surrendered himself entirely to Maha Dev. Legends point out that Lord Kartikeya came to the Parvat of Kronch in Uttarakhand. Atop the hill, the Lord remained in solitude and engaged in meditation and profound contemplation. Some elders from Uttarakhand say that Bhagwan Kartikeya’s bones fell on Kronch Parvat, transforming the place into the mesmerising Kartik Swami Temple that we see today.
