KOPPAL: Six women at Hosalli village in Koppal taluk have installed a sanitary pad manufacturing unit utilising the benefit of the National Rural Livelihood Mission. They knew the problem rural women working for MGNREGA schemes face. They now sell sanitary pads wherever the women work.
They also raise awareness among government high school girls and other rural women about sanitary pads and have taught the rural women to dispose of the used pads in a box kept close to the garbage collecting vehicles in villages. Shashikala, Ashabi and Dhariyaz Begum said they were 10 members of the Sri Kanyakumari Sanjeevini Gram Panchayat Level Federation. “Six of us intended to join this venture in January.
