BENGALURU: The Congress plans to launch another padayatra demanding implementation of the Mahadayi project in Karnataka.
KPCC working president Satish Jarkiholi said the padayatra will start at Nargund in Gadag district to the source of Mahadayi river near Kankumbi in Belagavi district. The neighbouring state of Goa is objecting to implementation of Kalasa-Banduri project for diversion of water from Mahadayi river to the Malaprabha basin.
The Mekedatu padayatra has been a success despite it being held for only four days, he claimed. “We are planning to continue the Mekedatu padayatra for11days once Covid cases subside and later take up another padayatra demanding implementation of the Mahadayi project,” he added.
