Karnataka: Man held for morphing pictures of college student & friends for spurning love proposal

BELAGAVI (KARNATAKA): A 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly posting manipulated images of a college student and her female friends on a social media platform after she rejected his romantic advances in Khanapur district, as per police reports on Monday.

The accused, employed at a private firm in Bengaluru, had been pursuing the girl, who also hailed from his hometown, for some time. Despite proposing to her and attempting to approach her through friends, she consistently rejected his advances.

When his efforts were unsuccessful, the man reportedly issued threats, stating, "I will take revenge on you," according to the police.

In an attempt to retaliate and exert pressure on the victim, the accused obtained photos of her from her social media account and manipulated them using photoshop. He merged her face with nude images of models, creating fake social media accounts in her name and disseminating these manipulated images, a senior police officer explained.

The same technique was employed to threaten two of her female friends, the officer added.

The Superintendent of Police in Belagavi, Bheemashankar Guled, stated that an arrest was made based on the complaint filed by the victim.
