Karnataka: Kodagu district administration clamps prohibitory orders from Aug 24-27 in view of Congress protest

MADIKERI: The Kodagu district administration clamped prohibitory orders under section 144 of the IPC in the district between 6 am on August 24 and 6 pm on August 27 and banned all kinds of gatherings, processions, rallies, protests, victory rallies, protests wearing a black dress, waving black flags, shouting slogans.

DC BC Satish issued an order in this regard.

It can be recalled that in protest against hurling eggs at the SUV in which former CM Siddaramaiah was traveling, Congress called for a protest in front of SP's office in Madikeri city on Friday, August 26. The BJP also called for a Jana Jagruthi convention on the same day in the city. Fearing law and order problems, the district administration clamped prohibitory orders.

The district administration also banned liquor sales across the district on August 25 and 26.

According to the order issued by the district administration, this decision has been taken in the public interest and to protect law and order situation as both the Congress and BJP leaders claimed that lakhs of party activists will attend their respective events.
