MANGALURU: Dakshina Kannada police have arrested four persons in connection with a dacoity reported at Sullia police station on March 20.
A gang of six masked miscreants had threatened and robbed a family of gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 5.5 lakh from Ambashrama house in Sampaje village of Sullia. The arrested accused are Karthik T,38, a resident of Allikulam village in Coimbatore, B Narasimhan,40, of Dharmapuri district, both in Tamil Nadu; Yadhu Kumar, 33, resident of Chikkbuvanahalli hobli and Deekshith K N, 26, from Vidyanagara, both from Hassan district.
According to a complaint filed by Asha S Hegde,31, the incident had taken place when her husband and father-in-law had been to Madikeri for a puja. The gang that arrived with sharp weapons, had snatched away the mangalsutra of the complainant, robbed gold ornaments from the cupboard, and Rs 2,500 from her husband’s purse. Dakshina Kannada SP Rishikesh Sonawane said a special team led by Puttur sub-division DySP Gana P Kumar and Sullia inspector Naveen Chandra Jogi arrested the four accused. The police team has seized Rs 20,000, a vehicle used to commit the crime, and five mobile phones from the arrested accused.
An investigation is on in order to arrest other accused, and to confiscate the remaining property, he added.
