Karnataka: Encourage students to hoist flag at home, colleges told

BENGALURU: The state government issued a circular asking colleges and universities to urge all teachers, non-teaching staff and students to hoist the national flag at home and tell drivers to hoist it on their college vehicles as part of the endeavour to make the Centre's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' programme a success.

The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' programme, to be held from August 11 to 17 as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, encourages people to fly the tircolour atop their homes to express love for the nation.

The circular will apply to all universities under the higher education department, government, aided and unaided first-grade colleges under the department of collegiate and technical education and diploma colleges in the state, said higher education minister CN Ashwath Narayan.

Info to be displayed

The institutions have to inform students about the programme during class hours and display the information on notice boards. Action taken regarding this should be uploaded on a weekly basis on the website of Kannada and culture department.

The banners and posters related to the event, available on amritmahotsav.nic.in, have to be used. Colleges should ensure the campaign becomes successful, the circular said.
