Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is expected to resign on Thursday following directions from the Congress high command, according to one of his close aides, setting the stage for Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar to take over the top post in the state.
Even before any formal announcement, celebrations broke out in Shivakumar’s camp on Wednesday, with supporters distributing sweets and bursting crackers in anticipation of the eight-time MLA becoming the next chief minister.
