BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has spent Rs 23 crore to develop multiple road stretches in the city for Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi's visit.
Special commissioner (projects) Ravindra PN addressing a press meet said: "since the state protocol dictates necessary preparations ahead of PM visit, the urban local body has developed multiple roads spending Rs 23 crore. The roads fall in the areas where Modi attended several events. The works were completed in a span of a week."
Ravindra informed that 14 kms of multiple road stretches at Kommaghatta, Bengaluru university, Jnanabharati, Hebbal and other places were developed. The BBMP spent money from its coffers taking approval from the urban development department.
The palike besides asphalting the roads, developed service roads, installed street lights, fixed footpaths, painted curvy medians.
"We completed the work in one week as workers toiled day and night. The road works were taken on priority as the PM's visit dictates certain protocols." said Ravindra PN.
