MANGALURU/ UDUPI: A 62-year-old man who was riding a two-wheeler died, while his 32-year-old son, riding pillion, sustained serious injuries, in an accident in Kumbra in Puttur taluk in the night on Sunday. The victim, Raghuram Shetty, 62, a resident of Kedambadi village, was dropping off his son Anush Shetty, a civil engineer working in Bengaluru, to the Kumbra bus stop, when the two-wheeler was hit by a van.

The accident proved fatal for Raghuram. Meanwhile, a case has been registered at the Puttur Rural police station.

Body found

The body of a 23-year-old man, who had been reported missing on Sunday, was found near the Trasi sea shore in Udupi district on Monday.

Roshan had reportedly been involved in a car accident on the stretch of National Highway-66 between Kundapur and Kumta, which had claimed the life of 28-year-old Viraj Achar, while fellow passengers Karthik and Sandesh sustained injuries.

Heavy rain, strong winds and poor visibility owing to misty conditions reportedly, coupled with overspeeding, led to the accident at Marvanthe Beach in Udupi district around 2am on Sunday, sources said.
