Karl-Anthony Towns Jokingly Credits Fan’s Tweet for 40-Point Game vs. Pacers

The Timberwolves have looked like arguably the NBA’s best team of late, and they proved it yet again on Saturday night with a 127–109 statement win over the Pacers.

It was the star power of Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns that carried Minnesota to its Western Conference-best 19th win against Indiana, as the duo combined for 77 points.

Towns put up 40 himself, a season-high for the 28-year-old, and in a joke on social media on Sunday, he credited a random Timberwolves fan on X for his motivation to have a big game.

In response to a post from the fan, in which the user claimed they’d no longer post on the platform until the T-Wolves’ center dropped 40 points in a game, Towns said that he saw the comments before taking the court on Saturday.

“Not gonna lie, I saw this before the game,” wrote Towns on X.

The three-time All-Star delivered the exact level of performance that was asked of him. His 40 points were his highest single-game scoring output since his 60-point performance against the Spurs back in March of 2022.

Towns shot 15-of-25 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range. He grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, and came up big on defense with three steals and two blocks, as Minnesota improved to 19–5 on the season.
