As part of its major expansion drive, the Karimnagar Milk Producer Company Limited (KMPCL), known as Karimnagar Dairy, is working to increase its milk processing capacity from the existing two lakh litres per day (LLPD) to five lakh LPD.
Unveiling the expansion plans at a press conference held here on Monday, the Karimnagar Dairy chairman Ch Rajeshwar Rao said that the trial runs of the fully automated machinery at the ₹ 63-crore mega processing plant at Nallagonda in Thimmapur mandal were successfully conducted.
The construction of the mega dairy unit with a capacity of three lakh LPD has been completed and the new facility is likely to be inaugurated by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao soon.
The Karimnagar Dairy has opened a string of Bulk Milk Cooling Units (BMCUs) in the neighbouring districts including Siddipet, Kamareddy and Mancherial to boost infrastructure development and increase milk procurement.
To benefit the milk producers, the KMPCL has increased the milk procurement prices. The buffalo milk containing 5% fat would be given ₹ 35.50 per litre and 10% fat ₹ 71 per litre.
The cow milk with 3% fat content will be paid ₹ 32.20 per litre, 4% fat ₹ 35 per litre and 4.5% fat ₹ 36.40 per litre.
The Karimnagar Dairy achieved a turnover of ₹ 400 crore during the last financial year, registering 10% increase over the previous year.
Announcing the launch of new products chikki (jaggery and peanuts) and one litre and two litre curd buckets, Mr Rao said the Karimnagar Dairy had recently launched its bread into the market.
Meanwhile, Chalmeda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences (CAIMS) chairman Chalmeda Lakshminarasimha Rao donated a veterinary ambulance to the Karimnagar Dairy.
