Karen Read sues the police who investigated her for her boyfriend’s murder

Karen Read has sued the Massachusetts State Police and the town of Canton, claiming that misconduct and negligence compromised the criminal investigation that led to her prosecution for the death of her boyfriend, a Boston police officer.

The civil lawsuit, filed Thursday in Bristol County Superior Court, comes roughly a year after Read was acquitted of murder charges related to the death of John O’Keefe.
