Karen Gillan gives Guardians of the Galaxy fans behind the scenes look on set

Karen Gillan has shared an insight into her life whilst filming Guardians of the Galaxy Volume Three.

The Inverness-born actress, 35, shared a vlog-styled video with her 23,500 Youtube subscribers.

She started the video: "So I've decided to make this vlog because I essentially snuck my iPad onto the set of Guardians of the Galaxy volume three.

"And I decided to film all of this behind-the-scenes footage and I totally got in trouble for doing it.

"I haven't really seen that many behind-the-scenes Marvel things but I have to assume that I've gotten about the closest you can possibly get to what it's like actually making these movies.

"I took my camera from first thing in the morning, until last thing at night over multiple days of filming- it was meant to be a day in the life playing Nebula, but I was enjoying myself so much that I turned it into a week in the life playing Nebula."

She concludes the introduction: "I do want to warn you, there are a couple of spoiler moments in this video, so if you haven't seen volume three year, either avoid this or don't be mad.

"I hope that you enjoy this sneaky peak into a week playing Nebula."

The Scots star begins the vlog at 4.15am on Wednesday morning as she begins her journey to Trilth Studios in Atlanta, where the iconic Marvel movie is filmed.

As Gillan arrives at the studio, she introduces fans to Andy Johnson her assistant and gives a tour of her trailer.

She explains to fans: "So I come in in the morning, and these are my sights which tell me all of the scenes that we're doing in the day and then all of the dialogue.

"Today, I'm flying a lot of spaceships."

The Doctor Who star- who joined the Marvel Universe in 2013- has appeared in a string of movies as Nebula including Infinity War and Avengers Endgame.

Later in the video, the 33-year-old gives fans an insight into the long process of becoming Nebula.

Getting into character requires Gillan to spend hours in hair and make-up and being painted blue while battling with prosthetics and bald caps to complete the full look.

Sitting down to talk to the camera, Gillan continues: "So we are just finished filming, now I'm about to get my Covid test.

"I'm basically ready to go, apart from my lips and my hand- so they'll get done on set, so I can eat without ruining the lips.

"Now they're going to call me in a few minutes to go to set and then we are going to finish getting ready and start filming the scenes of the day."

She adds: "It's going to be a fun day, I have a lot of flying in a spaceship and a few things with rocket and probably a couple of scenes with Kraglin."

She went on to answer some fans' questions, using comments from an older video she posted on Youtube.

The first question read: "Do you have to get into this makeup every single day that you are filming?"

In response, the Doctor Who star responded: "The answer is yes, absolutely, I've done this makeup over a hundred times over the course of a few films.

"It's been about 170 makeups at this point."

She went on to explain the mechanical arm that's seen in the film.

"It's actually made of like a rubber and I just put it on with some talcum powder."

Later on in the video, she gave fans a sneak peak into the set of the film and introduced fans to various members of the cast and production.

The video comes as the star hilariously revealed she had accidentally scheduled a couples therapy session during filming.

Sharing a snap of her laptop screen where she could be seen in Nebula make-up, she wrote: "In honour of Guardians of the Galaxy in theatres this Friday - here’s a screenshot of the time I forgot I had scheduled a COUPLES THERAPY session on a day we were shooting."

Gillan's Marvel co-stars rushed to the comments of the hilarious post as they couldn't help but laugh at the actress.

Chris Pratt wrote: " THIS IS THE BEST," while Zoe Saldana who plays her on-screen sister penned: " this needs to be in a movie".
