Kara Tointon feels she's gone to 'heightened level' of single parenting after fiancé split

Former Strictly Come Dancing champion Kara Tointon has revealed she feels she has gone to a "heightened level" as she juggles her acting career and being a single parent.

Kara, 39, reportedly split from her fiancé Marius Jensen in secret 10 months ago, it has been claimed. Earlier this week, before news broke of the break up, the Norwegian chiropractor was spotted kissing a brunette woman.

The former EastEnders star looks to have moved on, though, as she opened up about her new skills as a single mum to two young boys, Frey, three, and Helly, one, who she shares with Marius.

She told The Sun : "It’s that heightened level. You feel like you're MI5, you're just so on it.

"They say you only use a certain amount of your brain and it's not really until you're pushed that you use what you potentially could use. As a parent you’re put into that corner."

The Mirror have contacted Kara's representatives for comment.

Kara and Marius met in 2016 and got engaged two years later in November 2018 before the reported split almost a year ago.

Despite the demanding role of motherhood, Kara is still pursuing her acting career which has seen her in Albert Square in addition to a number of West End productions including Pygmalion, Gaslight and Twelfth Night.

She is currently filming in a new ITV drama called Archie, which is based on the life of Cary Grant's life. Kara is playing the younger version of Grant's mother Elsie Leach and has admitted how "surprised" motherhood has "helped" her career.

The actress has had a turbulent few years in the midst of her two sons' births with her 2017 eight-part ITV drama series The Halcyon being axed after just one series, before her mother Carole died in 2019 just a few months after Frey was born.

Coronavirus scuppered her wedding with Marius during the pandemic and the 2010 Strictly winner admitted she is relieved to see the end of her 30s after taking a "pummeling" in recent years and is "really excited" to turn 40 in August next year.

Those setbacks have seen her "layer up" with life experience and she is only look forward with her two young sons.

"You realise the important things. We're only here for such a short amount of time," she added.

"We’ve just got to make the most of every phase of life and take your wins and take the best of it and roll with the punches and just get up brush yourself off and come out of it stronger."
