Kanye West to play in Russia after several European shows are axed

• Kanye West is set to perform at the Gazprom Arena in St Petersburg in October, making him the biggest Western star to play in Russia since its invasion of Ukraine.
• The announcement follows a series of concert cancellations and performance bans across Europe prompted by the rapper's antisemitic remarks.
• Cheapest tickets for the show in the 70,000-capacity stadium sold out within an hour, with prices ranging from 9,000 to 160,000 roubles (£78 - £1,300)
• West was recently banned from travelling to the UK to headline Wireless Festival after the Home Office ruled his presence was not conducive to the public good.
• In January, the musician apologised for his behaviour in a full-page newspaper advert, attributing his actions to bipolar disorder.
