Kanye West’s Twitter and Instagram accounts locked over antisemitic posts

Kanye West has been locked out of his Twitter and Instagram messages after posting antisemitic messages.

The rapper had his Instagram suspended at the weekend after posting messages playing into antisemitic conspiracy theories, accusing P Diddy of being controlled by Jewish people.

West also posted on Twitter that he would go “death con 3 On Jewish people”.

Both social media networks have removed West’s posts, saying he had violated their policies on hate speech.

The comments were condemned across showbusiness and in the Jewish community, with the American Jewish Community saying he had “formented hatred against Jews”.

On Saturday, the star, who goes by the alias Ye, posted a purported conversation with rapper P Diddy, which read: “I’ma use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me.”

The message appeared to be a reference to an antisemitic conspiracy theory.

After having his Instagram account restricted, West then turned to Facebook, reactivating his account for the first time since 2020.

He posted a picture of him with Meta’s owner Mark Zuckerberg, saying, “How you gone kick me off Instagram?”

He then told his millions of followers: “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE

“The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also.

“You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”

Death Con 3 appears to be a reference to the US military status DEFCON 3.

It comes after West was criticised for wearing a T-shirt with the slogan “white lives matter" during Paris fashion week. The slogan also appeared during his YZY fashion show.

It was criticised by others in showbusiness, including P Diddy, who said: “All lives matter - but that Black Lives Matter, don’t play with it. Don’t wear the shirt. Don’t buy the shirt. Don’t play with the shirt. It’s not a joke.”

Adidas has also said it was reviewing its partnership with the star after his appearance at Paris Fashion Week, saying the review came after “repeated efforts to privately resolve the situation”.

West was diagnosed with bipolar disorder several years ago and has spoken publicly about his mental health difficulties.

A representative for West has been contacted for comment.
