Kanye West hires Johnny Depp's Amber Heard lawyer after fashion designers cut ties

Kanye West has reportedly hired Johnny Depp's Amber Heard lawyer for split with Kim Kardashian.

The controversial rapper is said to have secured the legal services of Camille Vasquez, who was one of the attorneys who helped Johnny Depp win his infamous defamation trial against Amber Heard.

TMZ reports that Vasquez and her firm, Brown Rudnick, will oversee all of the business matters for the 45-year-old.

It's thought that Kanye is in need of Vasquez's help due to a barrage of negative press the musician has faced.

The dad-of-four has been dumped by several brands, with calls for more to follow suit, following a series of publicity stunts.

He was slammed after wearing a controversial 'White Lives Matter' t-shirt at a fashion show at Paris Fashion Week.

The shirt was in response to the Black Lives Matter moment which was started in 2013 following the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin.

The Anti-Defamation League has previously called the phrase 'White Lives Matter' a hate slogan.

Some of the models in the show wore the same shirt as Kanye, with the clothes sparking outrage online.

This week Balenciaga cut ties with the 45-year-old rapper.

The blow was revealed by the French fashion house's parent company, Kering, and comes despite a lengthy relationship between Kanye and Balenciaga's artistic director Demna.

Kanye also announced he will be terminating his contract with Gap last month.

In a letter shared by the Yeezy founder's lawyer he cited Gap’s alleged failure to meet obligations detailed in their agreement, which included distributing Yeezy products in its stores by the second half of 2021 and creating dedicated Yeezy Gap stores.

Kanye also has a rocky relationship with his long-time partner Adidas.

The brand said it had placed Kanye's lucrative partnership with them 'under review'.

Adidas said in a statement: "Adidas has always been about creativity, innovation and supporting athletes and artists to achieve their vision. The Adidas Yeezy partnership is one of the most successful collaborations in our industry’s history."

They went on to add: "After repeated efforts to resolve the situation, we have taken the decision to place the partnership under review. We will continue to co-manage the current product during this period."

Vasquez gained a lot of popularity when she was involved in Depp's trial.

Romance rumours were also sparked between the two of them.

However, the attorney rejected the allegations, labelling them as 'sexist' and 'unethical'.

Her firm made her partner after the trial due to her cross-examination of Heard and work throughout the trial.

William Baldiga, chairman and CEO of Brown Rudnick, said in a press release in June: "We are delighted to welcome Camille to the partnership.

"Historically, we have reserved this announcement for the end of our fiscal year. But Camille’s performance during the Johnny Depp trial proved to the world that she was ready to take this next step now. We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our newest partner."

Kanye's reps have been contacted for comment.
